Feb. 1 - 3  -  28th Annual East Coast Commercial Fishermen's and Aquaculture Trade Exposition at the Ocean City Convention Center in Ocean City, Maryland.

Feb. 2  -  Fishing Flea Market.  Fishing equipment, raffles, and door prizes.  Solomons Fire and Rescue Station.

Feb. 2 - 10  -  47th Annual Eastern Sports, Boat, Camping, Travel & Outdoor Show in Harrisburg PA.  The Eastern Sports & Outdoor Show is the largest consumer event of its kind in North America.  800-511-8376

April 17 - 28  -  The Volvo Ocean Race.  The boats will arrive in Baltimore or April 17.   They sail to Annapolis on the 26 and the race restarts on the 28.

April 17 - 26  -  Baltimore Waterfront Festival.

April 27  -  April Fools Kayak and Canoe Races.  Races on Mill Creek in downtown Hampton.

April 28  -  Chesapeake Bay Bridge Walk.


May 1  -  X-Crab-A-Ganza.  Live entertainment, Chesapeake Artique, Arts and Antiques of the Chesapeake Bay  Crabs may be purchased individually or by the dozen.

May 3 - 5  -  Rod 'n' Reel Pro-Am Fishing Tournament.

May 3 - 5  -  21st Annual Decoy and Wildlife Art Festival.  Havre de Grace Decoy Museum.  Decoy carvers, wildlife artists, auctions, and carving competitions.

May 4  -  Family Discovery Day.  Annual spring open house at the Calvert Marine Museum with music and special activities.

May 4 - 5  -  Chesapeake Antique Marine Engine Show.  Calvert Marine Museum.

May 4 - 5  -  Solomons Island Spring Launch.  Island-wide kick off to Solomons recreational season.

May 11  -  International Migratory Bird Day.  Eastern Shore of Virginia National Wildlife Refuge offers tours of fisherman's island, refuge bird walks, canoe trips, and children and family activities.  Kiptopeake, VA.

May 11  -  Downtown Hampton Boat Show.  Over 20 dealers showing the hottest boats of the season.

May 12  -  Mother's Day Cruise.  A special evening cruise in honor of mothers.

May 13 - 18  -  Building Your Own Chesapeake 17.  Chesapeake Light Craft.

May 17 - 19  -  Mid Atlantic Maritime Arts Festival.  Art sale and demonstration, plus live music, boat rides, and food.

May 25 - 26  -  Chestertown Tea Party Festival.  Lots to do for the entire family.

May 31 -  June 1  -  Blackbeard Festival.  Pirate themed activities on the Hampton waterfront.  Hampton.

June 1  -  Water Sightseeing Excursion. 1 PM to 3 PM at South Chesapeake Cityat the municipal Wharf.  12 years ago the authentic workboat Miss Clare started operation.  To celebrate  a special trip to Turkey Point Lighthouse is planned.

June 7 - 9  -  25th Annual Norfolk Harborfest.  Music, ships, fun, and fireworks.  Town Point park, downtown waterfront.

June 8  -  Applaud the Sun Party.  At Cape Charles Town Harbor.  Beer, band, dancing, food, sunset.

June 13  -  Bay Breeze Summer Concert.  Chesapeake Beach Railway Museum.

June 15 & 16  -  Maritime FestivalHavre de Grace Maritime Museum.  Demonstrations, workshops, classic boat show, music, and children's activities.

June 29  -  Canal Day.  Chesapeake City street fair, food, bands, and vendors.


July 3  -  Family Day on the Bay.  Fireworks celebration at Rod 'n' Reel Marina in Chesapeake Beach.

July 3  -  Forth of July Celebration, Independence Day Fireworks in Chespaeake Beach, North East, and Rock Hall

July 4  -  Forth of July Celebration, Independence Day Fireworks in Annapolis, Baltimore, Cambridge, Chestertown, Georgetown, and Solomon's Island.  Check your local papers for more information.

July 4  -  Fireworks Cruise.  8:00pm.  A special cruise aboard the Wm. B. Tennison.  Leaves from Calvert Marine Museum.

July 16 - 18  -  76th Annual Hampton Cup Regatta.  Nine classes of hydroplane boat races at a festival with food and music.

July 21 - 23  -  Screwpile Lighthouse Challenge 2002.  10th annual regatta.

June 22  -  Tilghman Island Seafood Festival.  Seafood, music, crafts, and fireman's parade.

July 27  -  4th Annual Eastern Shore of Virginia Blue Crab Music Festival.  Held in Cape Charles Central Park.

Aug. 9 - 11  -  Cradle of the Invasion.  Calvert Marine Museum commemorates the Solomons Naval Amphibious Training base's role in WWII.

Aug. 10 - 11  -  22nd Annual Havre de Grace Seafood Festival.  Tydings Park.  A family event with the Upper Chesapeake Bay Crabcake Challenge, entertainment, and a silent auction.

Aug. 10 - 11  -  Wm. B. Tennison Excursion.  A special WWII tour from Calvert Marine Museum.

Aug. 25 - 26  -  Bay Fest.  North Beach, MD.

Sept. 6 - 8  -  Hampton Bay Days.  This festival pays tribute to the Chesapeake Bay with music, bay activities, exhibits, and art show, and water events.

Sept. 28  -  10th Annual Solomons Island Biathalon.  Benefits graduate student research on the Chesapeake Bay.


Oct. 5  -  Mid Atlantic Small Craft Festival.  Hundreds of amateur and professional boat builders bring their kayaks, canoes and skiffs.  At the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum.

Oct. 7 - 12  -  Building Your Own Annapolis Wherry.  Chesapeake Light Craft.

Oct. 10 - 14  -  33rd Annual Sailboat Show at the Annapolis City and Harbor.

Oct. 17 - 20  -  31st Annual Powerboat Show at the Annapolis City and Harbor.

Oct. 12  -  Seven Seas Cruising Association Annual Annapolis Gathering at Port Annapolis Marina.

Oct 12 - 13  -  Patuxent River Appreciation Days Festival.  At the Calvert Marine Museum.  Boat rides, seafood cooking demonstrations, and children's activities.

Oct. 14 - 19  -  Building Your Own Mill Creek 13 Kayak.  Chesapeake Light Craft.

Oct. 19  -  Tilghman Day.  Boat races and docking contests, crab picking and oyster shucking contests, exhibits and lots of food.

Oct. 21  -  Schooner Feast.  At Cape Charles Harbor.  Band, dancing, and dinner to welcome tall ships from the Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race.  Advance tickets required.


Nov. 1 - 2  -  Urbanna Oyster Festival.  Food, parade, crafts, oyster shucking contest.

Nov. 5  -  Oyster Fest.  Dine on raw, steamed, and fried oysters.  Learn oyster shucking, tonging, and nippering techniques.  Music, boat rides, and children's activity tent.

Nov. 8 - 10  -  32nd Annual Waterfowl Festival.
